Muskie fishing in the Eagle River and Three Lakes area has been outstanding! 3 and 4 muskie days have been common and we are also catching some beautiful fish over 45 inches!

The weather has been stable for a while now and water surface temps are around 73-81 degrees. Winds have been out of the S-SW at 5 to10 mph and SE winds are predicted for later this week so conditions are looking good.

It is difficult to say which lures are “working best” right now because the “hot” lure has been literally changing on a daily basis. One day it seems all they want is a black/silver bucktail, the next day all the action will be on a bull dawg and the next day all the action is on a suick….you get the idea… Be sure to throw just about everything until you find what they want. This may sound ridiculous but on many of our multiple fish days all the muskies for that particular day will be taken on one specific style / color lure so it is important to try to figure it out.

One thing that I can say with confidence is that we are catching a lot of our muskies over “open water.” The suspended bite has taken off, so locating and casting around schools of suspended baitfish has been the key to taking muskies when the wind is calm and the sun is high.

Set the hook hard!

Chas

What's going on up on the Chain? I check this forum weekly, and haven't seen any reports from you. Tony and I had a blast fishing with you back in June, even with the lousy weather, and are thinking of coming up again.
