Hi everyone,

Guided a young couple yesterday and we caught a lot of fish. Fishing with jigs and leeches on the sunken bogs, we boated a lot of blugills, perch, crappie, and a Walleye. We hit a lot of spots and usually caught fish at every spot. The dozen perch we kept averaged between 8"-10". We caught and released many more.We released most of the Blugills and crappie, but caught a ton of the Blugills. I measured many of the bigger Blugills and there were many over 9". Big Blugills in any body's book.

Toward evening, we swithched tactics and casted crank baits over and around the weeds. Colleen caught her first ever fish on a crank bait, a 24" Northern. While Todd and I didn't catch anything on the crankbait, she showed us her expertise by catching another Northern.

The weather was gorgeous all day with mostly sunny skies with a brisk North wind providing a good walleye chop all day. Toward evening, the wind died to a flat calm. The air temp was very comfortable in the high 60's to low 70's. The water temp started out at 66 degrees and at night was 67degrees.

The bugs are starting to hatch on a regular basis now. That makes for a tougher bite, but persistence pays off. All the fish are well fed and all look healthy, but with proven spots that usually produce, and tried and true tactics, we were able to have an enjoyable time on the water catching fish all day. Good luck fishing everyone.
