Yesterday I guided up on the St. Louis. Hard east wind and carp spawning in the shallows made fishing tough. I did loose the biggest walleye of my life, I would honestly say it was 32-34 inches long and an honest 12 pounds, it was absolutely huge! We did see a couple other muskie, but all downriver. I lost one of them on a depthraider, and we saw another on a smaller bucktail, and the other on a cowgirl. One fish came on a breakline to the main river channel, and the others came on weeds.
This morning guided for walleye on Grindstone, we trolled crawler harnesses on the flats, and we lost a pretty good walleye right by the boat, and missed a couple of others. The mayflies are hatching pretty good right now too. We did try open water trolling too, but no luck out there.
Good luck,
Tanner Wildes
