The past two days has seen some very high sky's and very little wind, if any, but that has not slowed down the walleye action, not to mention the perch and smallies. Both Sunday and Monday have found the walleyes, smallies, and jumbo perch on a very good bite. Working 1/16th ounce Reeves weedless jigs tipped with 1/2 crawler in 5 to 8 feet of water over muddy bottom with submerged wood and weeds have produced very good numbers of eyes, smallies and perch which are all feeding in the same areas. With the last two days of rising water temps, the smallies were really in close today and tearing up the shallow shoreline waters. For what it's worth, the slower the retrieve with the jig and crawler proved to be the ticket on numbers of fish caught, crawling it across the bottom seemed to be the best method rather than a jigging method. Still have not seen any sign of any mayfly hatch, nor have I seen any floating on the water, it should happen any day now, can't wait for that to happen.

Back out tomorrow for another go at it, will keep you posted.

Sureshot,

Don't want it to happen, it pretty much shuts down the walleye fishing along with all panfish and even the smallies. It was just a saying, can't wait for it to happen. Fishing really sucks during this hatch, always has and always will.

If it's a big hatch, it could affect fishing the better part of a week.
