Several days of 90 degree weather with plenty of sunshine to go along with it has really kick started the fishing for me. Many of the lakes that were far behind on weed growth due to the cold Spring have now caught up quite a bit. Water temps soared to 70 degrees on many lakes during the recent heat wave. The combination of improved weeds and warming water triggered some heavy feeding. Walleye, northern, and perch were extremely active in shallow weeds during the 90 degree days. When the temps dropped sharply Thursday, the shallow weed bite turned off but by relocating to lakes with deeper weeds we still found actively feeding walleyes. Jigs and minnows seem to still be working slightly better than crawlers although it's been a day to day thing. Yesterday crawlers outproduced minnows.

With the warming water and improved weed cover I look for the fish to settle in to a nice summer pattern and the good fishing should continue.
