with the up/down weather the past week ranging from 70's and sunny to 50's and n,ne/mw winds water temps have ranged from mid to high 50's main lake to 60's in bays and creeks.
walleyes have been caught on alot of diff. patterns and structures from in and at mouths of creeks,on flats 4-10' and off edges of the flats 16'-24' moving up shallower pms and sunny days dropping off the edges darker cooler days,in timber, logs, reed combos,on top of 8-20' bars so you got to play around and check it all from spawning areas to spots normally not being used till july as they are seemingly on the move all the time.a spot may be good one day not so the next or even several times during the course of the same day but alot of fish being caught.
jigs and minnows and rigs and minnows still been best bets. the frehner boys, watkins, borecki's,mertens all boated numerous fish to 20-29". the kinzer group got onto the patterns that were quite a bit diff from thier trip last season with earlier ice out and finished the week strong with numbers of nice fish.
bass are moving in and of course as is the case this time of the season better on warmer sunny days or stretches, pms, and a bit slower on dropping water temps or fronts. some bedding started but for the most part pre spawn cruising in shallow looking and thinkiing about it and fairly aggressive. jeff maka fished alot of bass last week and had fish up to 20". x-raps,jerk shads, jigs and grubs/tubes,hook and a shot with a lively minnow for the most part though some fish on topwaters too.a few days of sun and even just mildly rising water temps and the bass will explode and start bedding all over.on the colder days fished he walleyes/pike and boated numerous 20-26" walleyes and some pike to 38",friday he and danny were back at 2;30 burning up 12 doz minnows by 2;30 with 80% slot fish and over.the meyers boys (close but spelled with an e,gave son Andy a hat to wear anyway) can't wait to come back, said it sure beats wisc fishing, caught pike, walleyes, some dandy bass and 2 muskies fishing for bass.
numbers of bigger pike have been slow, need some weeds to come up.
lakers even though still basically same depths as last week and should have been biting even better with the cooler weather and wind seemed a bit more spotty this week for some reason, one group went to a numbers lake which is a typical 15-40 fish per day lake and only boated 3 but were marking lots that would just come up and look at the baits and swim away, the day before the boreckis boated over 20,borecki's,sundbys,and jeagers also boated nice fish 6-15# on eagle. spoons, cranks, snapp jigging/slow trolling glow or white jigs /gulp,spinner rigs with meat strips catching most of the fish.
some nice muskies seen cruising around incl several tankers and some to 47" hooked incidently and water released while fishing other species.
basically weather has been up and down a bit but overall fishing has been good and everyone is catching fish.best and most consistant bites last week were walleyes and bass.
still got an accom available june 26-july 2,july 2-9,aug 13-20 and scattered availablity aug 20 through oct.
till next time,good fish'n!!
