Local water temperatures have finally cracked the 70 degree mark, although the weed growth is still a bit behind for this time of year. Whether you are on Lake Mohawksin, Lake Alice, Lake Wausau, Lake DuBay, or a stretch of the mighty Wisconsin itself - shallow water, with cover, seems to be the key to action. After another multiple musky outing today, the fish are still showing a preference for smaller lures in the 5"-8" range, with color selections either natural (perch, sucker) or orange.
Looking to get in on the action? Here's what's been producing fish daily for our boats as of late:
Rubber baits: Reg. Bulldawgs
Blade baits: Mepps Musky Marabou and Esox Edge Thumper Jr.
Crankbaits/twitchbaits: Tyrant 5" Shallow Czar and Musky Armor Krave Jr.
The fish are still keying in on erratic bit slower presentations, and remember to figure-eight! I'll see you on the water...
Tight lines,
