Did a dive on Mendota this morning. Only thing worth mentioning is the lake has stratified. There's a definite thermocline at 28'. As most people look at the water temp using their locators, it's important to understand this is very inaccurate. You're only looking at the top few inches of the water column, which is unstable. Perfect example today, when I hit the first foot of water I noticed how cold the water was on my hand (with a pair of very light gloves on). When I got down just a bit the water was noticably warmer. At 28' it dropped again. I haven't downloaded the data yet from the dive, but when I checked the computer after being on the bottom (40 FOW) it read 53°F (small text, hard to read, but I'm pretty sure that's what it read). Pretty windy, starting to feel like Chicago around here! Rick
