Walking sticks (swimming sticks)

I was just thinking of different things seen while being on the water. Over the years you see strange things that you wouldn't expect to see. Two times while fishing the flowage I have looked down into the water to see walking sticks swimming a couple inches under the surface. Both times was while drifting and no where near a shoreline. Just wondering if anybody else has seen these critters and what other stories might come to mind?

A friend and have also seen what you are talking about. Another strange thing happened when my son 8 to 10 years old was walking around the perimeter of our fire. He approached a tree branch and there was loud buzzing, the branch bounced and the next thing we heard was a splash. My son looked at me with wide eyes and I just said, aliens. Anyone have any idea what that was?
