Well this weekend is the Wis Fishing Opener!
This will be our 26th Fishing Opener behind the counter of our shop. Boy does the time go by fast. I remember Debbie would carry Shane who was 2 years old at the time and serve customers their bait, and now Shane manages the store.
Even though the Bridge is closed we look forward to seeing all of you and hear the fish stories that make the opener so great.

We now have FREE Coffee every day!

Water Temps, 44 degree's 2 feet below the surface off of our docks.
The opener should be a good one for Walleye and Northerns. Warming temps and some light rain will warm the water some. We have been finding the bigger Walleye on the rock and gravel bottoms with some brush. After dark the big fish are right up in the shallows. The dam areas are loaded with smaller male walleye's and anglers are catching large numbers of them along with some keepers. Jigs and minnows are still working best right now. Spirit Flowage, Nokomis, Alice and the Willow should see good action this weekend.

Pike are holding close to the rocks along the north shorelines when the sun is out, on cloud cover days we found them in the mucky bottom bays. Slow wide wobbling crankbaits are catching fish in the 28 to 32 inch size on Mohawksin. We also had luck fishing the rocks with 3/4 oz jigs with 5 to 6 inch suckers. Toss these jigs right up on the rocks and siwm them out to deeper water, like I said this when the sun is heating up the rocky shores. Good way to catch smallies too!

Crappies been deep, slip bobbers and small shiners for best action.

I have seen Bluegills up in the shallows warming themselves but once again only when the sun has warmed up the shallows for most of the day. Otherwise look for them in 5 to 7 feet of water, use small ice jigs and waxies.

Well Good Luck and show us your catch!

Opening morning report, Walleye reports are hot. Anglers hitting the water before sunrise found nice walleye right up on the shallow water rock bars. Rapala's tossed right up into the shoreline catching most fish, purple 1/8oz jigs and tuffies working well also. This pattern should last for the next few days.

Good Luck

Sunday morning once again provided Walleye anglers with good action. Walleye's on the flowages just finished spawning. Bradley Dam anglers did good on Walleye and Crappies. Spirit Dam reports are lots of male Walleye's with some keepers, but some nice Crappies. Thumper jigs are hot here.
