Looks like Mendota and Monona are open for business! We drove around Monona Saturday and there was between 1/2 and 1/3 of the lake still in ice. The next morning it was open. I checked Mendota either last Thursday or Friday and there was open water along the shorelines but the main lake still had lots of ice. Checked from the little parking lot by the tent colony all the way over to Warner Bay, couldn't see any ice anywhere. Few places had small amounts of ice shoved up on the shoreline. I haven't gone back to Monona to look, but McPike called and said it was also wide open.

To the ambitious folk that hauled all the xmas trees out to Monona to make a long crib. I triangulated the coordinates last Tuesday, I wanted to see how far it would travel before finally sinking down to the depths. Two days later it had traveled 2000' and was out in front of Morrison Park heading 21° from it's original location. Don't have a clue where it's final resting place ended up being.
