Hi everyone,
The last day of the game fish season proved to be a very fun day. Didn't catch any game fish, but caught oodles of Perch. I fished another small lake close to home that usually produces Walleyes, but even though they weren't biting, it seemed like every Perch in he lake wanted to play tug of war.
They bit on waxxies and minnow heads on a variety of baits. I marked fish all day long and the Perch were very aggressive. Only kept 4 for a lunch, but caught dozens. I'd see a mark, it would circle, then wham. It's the most fun day of fishing this winter. What a difference from the day before.
The Walleye season in da U.P. goes thru the 15th, so am going to try to make a trip up there next Sunday. Have to see if I can get my honey do list trimmed enough by then. Been a long winter! If nothing else, the Perch fishing around here will pick up even better as the days get warmer. I'll be fishing some where.
