The Bucher Depthraider is one of the most common deep diver crankbaits on the market. I've been using them since they first came out in the late 80's. It's a very effective bait both for casting and trolling. If you are a troller it's important to know how deep your lure is running. The length of line from rod tip to lure is the most important factor in determining the depth. Things like line diameter and speed also play a part. Here's a little info Joe posted about running depth of the straight model full size (8") Depthraider. I wish all manufacturers put out this kind of info for their baits. These figures were calculated using 80lb. test superbraid line.

40' line out = 8' deep
60' line out = 10' deep
75' line out = 12' deep
90' line out = 13' deep

Good reason to own line-counter reels if you're a troller.

A quick fyi. I checked with Joe and he says the depths for jointed DR's is about the same. Hasn't done a dive profile on Baby DR's yet but has that in the works.
