Hello everyone, this is Cathy from Aquatic Arts Fishing Pro Shop right here in Tomahawk. Rainy weather is in the forecast for this week, so we can expect this to affect the feeding patterns of most all species of fish. The fish responding best this week have been bass and walleye. The smallmouth bite has been great the past few days!! Some real pigs have been caught in the A.M. along weed eges and grass flats, 6-10ft of water. Shad Raps in Crayfish color have been deadly in these areas. During the day, fish drop offs near rockbars and wood structure using plastic worms. The bigger plastics seem to be working best such as berkley 7" powerworms, Gulp Alive Nightcrawlers and 5" Yamasenkos. Hooking these baits wacky style has been proving to be the best approach!! If the bite seems to slow during the day, switch to jigging a live leech or crawler right along the bottom, bouncing them off from rocks and wood structure. The largemouth bite has been good as well. They seem to be holding tighter to structure near peirs, weedy bays, and wood. In the A.M. , cast some faster moving lures like Mepp's #5's along with Northland Spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits. Adding a twister tail trailer seems to be eniticing these fish to bite more often!! During the day, use a slower approach with Plastics. Yum Dingers, Zoom Flukes, and Chompers have been hot!! Fish inside structure and along weeds and humps, 6-10ft of water. The walleye bite has been best in the A.M. Fish right along the weed edges near muddy bottom areas 6-8ft of water. Shad Raps in Perch and Bluegill pattern have been producing many keeper walleyes. During the day, move to deeper water, and use a slower approach with live bait on a jighead, or even vertically jigging rattle traps or smaller sized jigging rapalas. Once evening returns, slip bobbers with leeches or XL fatheads along weededges 6-12ft of water has been proving very effective: with reports of walleyes up to 22inches being caught just after dusk!! Well, thats all for today, this has been your Wednesday fishing report with Catch em Cathy. For daily fishing updates and fish pictures, log on to fishtomahawk.com
