Hello again everyone, this is Catch em Cathy from Aquatic Arts Fishing Pro shop, right here in Tomahawk. The heat sure has slimmed down our options as for when to fish. Either get up early before the heat of the day shuts the bite down or get out there after dark with some lighted bobbers!! The heat this week has sure affected the Northern Pike bite. Early this week the bite was great, but now it seems the Pike are slow moving and don't have much of an appetite. You will have your best luck in the early a.m. along weed edges, 6-10ft of water. Water on the area flowages has been dark and murky lately, which makes it harder for these toothy critters to find your bait. You need to choose a lure that makes noise!! Buzzbaits, Topwater Rubber Legged Frogs, Spinnerbaits, and Torpedos and Crazy Crawlers have been among the top lures!! Bright colors have been best. Largemouth bass on the other hand have been loving this heat. During the day, they have been loving plastics. Fish senkos or yum dingers wacky style along weed edges and inside weed pockets, 6-10ft of water. After the heat of the day breaks towards sundown, topwater action has been hot!! The Largemouth have been tearing up Hula Poppers, Rubber Frogs, and Heddon Crazy Crawlers. As far as the Gills and Perch, you will need to use some Leeches. They have both been schooling around deeper weed edges and humps searching for cooler temps, fish 8-14ft of water. A small ice jig or lead head jig will do the trick with a small leech below a slip bobber. The best bite for these have been at towards evening and into the night!!! A few nice sized gills have been found below the area dams as well!! Fish in the tide pools along the rocky edges with a slip float!! The Wisconsin Musky Tournament circuit will be fishing Lake Mohawksin this Saturday, so we can expect much traffic on the water. Muskys have been active yet this week, despite the heat. Best bite has been in the PM with topwater lures such as TallyWackers, Poes Jackpots, and Bucher Topraiders. You need your baits to make some noise to trigger these fish hit!! Figure 8's have been producing some nice sized fish boatside. Well, thats all for today, this has been your friday fishing update with Catch em Cathy.
