Walleye, walleye and more walleye. This has been the best year I have ever seem for the eyes.
We have been fishing with jigs and bottom bounces in 24 to 30 feet of water tipped with either leaches or crawlers. The fish have been ranging in size from 12 to 27 inches. Most of the guests have been having days of 50 to 100 fish per day.
The northern fishing remains very spotty with the hot calm weather. There are a few being taken in the mornings and some in the evening after dinner. Overall it has been very poor. We have a forecast for some rain tomorrow and then the temps are supposed to start cooling over the next few days and we are hopping this will get the bigger fish going again.
The muskie also has slowed down with the hotter weather. The action was much better last week. Michael and Russ have been taking a few in the late evening hours.

I talked with a buddy who fished at WBC last week. He said the algae bloom was the worst he had seen it in the past 10 years, but the walleye fishing in Andrews Bay was terrific -- primarily vertical jigging. He also managed to catch 3 muskies -- 44, 43 and 36 -- rocks, rocks and rocks. With the low visibility due to the algae, bright orange colors seemed to work the best. It sounds like the deep weeds are still pretty scimpy.
