Still very warm water temps on the ER Chain, 74-76, making muskie fishing very sporadic. Just like people, muskie will get very "moody" when very warm for extended periods. Look for an early morning, late afternoon, or cloudy day bite. Action will be best during those conditions. When the muskie decide to feed action will be excellent on bucktails and spinner baits but my favorite is surface baits. They will readily chase down surface baits during a "feeding spell" making for some very exciting fishing indeed... A "lake bloom" or algae bloom is beginning to appear on some of the ER Chain lakes, the water will look like "pea soup" but the fishing can be very good during a "bloom". Use bright colored baits and DO A FIGURE 8 AT THE END OF EVERY CAST! Muskies will use this murky water as a type of structure and will approach your boat very close to hit a bait, be warned, they will explode out of nowhere at boatside! Bring extra shorts...
