Muskie Matt

Water temp on the ER Chain is running 72-76 depending on location. Muskie bite has been very on/off, I would call it a tough bite at the moment. Most activity seems to happen afternoon or evening time periods. Right now, night fishing is the way to go which presents a whole new set of factors from baits to lighting... Some of my more productive baits at this time are spinner baits worked in thick weeds, surface baits early and late, and of course the Mepps muskie killer bucktails. All these baits in colors of black, brown, orange, chartruese, or combinations of these colors will do the trick. On the ER Chain weeds are the key... fish the thick weeds and edges of those weed patches. It can be tough and a bit frustrating with floating/chopped up weeds from boat traffic but well worth the effort.
