Hello again everyone, this is Catch em Cathy from Aquatic Arts Fishing Pro Shop with your Friday Fishing Minute Update. The bite is holding steady despite the daunting, on again off again weather. Nice sized bluegills have been coming into the shop for our weekly fish contest, with the biggest measuring in at 10". Baby Crawlers and lightweight cork poppers have been proving successful. Small Panfish Plastics like Custom Jig N Spins Nuclear Ants, Ratso's, and Shrimpos below a slip bobber have been a great alternative to live bait!! Fish on the weed edges and inside weed pockets, 3-6ft of water. On the sunny hot days, we have been finding the gills in about 3ft of water hiding in and around the root systems of stumps. The Perch have been biting steadily in the weedbeds, 5-9ft of water. Some nice sized Jumbos are still being caught on the area river systems. Plastic Baits have been their preferred meals! Try using smaller plastic scented baits with legs, like the new Gulp Alive 1" Cricket and Berkley Power Nymphs. These look alot like the Perch's major food sources, crayfish and Hellgramites. Fish just off the bottom with a slip bobber for the best luck! Walleyes seem to be harder to come by than Panfish this time of year. They are scattered all over the place depending on the time of day. In the early morning and towards dusk, the Walleyes have been moving into the shallow weedbeds, 3-6ft of water scavenging for baitfish and bugs. Floating Rapalas, size 7-11 have been great at these times of the day. Mid-Day, they can be found in deeper water with structure such as cabbage weeds, rocks and stumps. 1/8 to 1/4 oz lead-head jigs tipped with leeches along with crawler harnesses have been the best! You can even drift the deeper channels with a harness to cover more ground as the walleyes can be hard to find! Fish the deepest spots your lake or river has to offer and check your electronics often! Well, thats all for today, this has been your Friday Fishing minute update with catch em cathy.
