Weather this past week was rather enjoyable... a few windy periods and some rain but everyone was pretty happy with the weather and most did quite well with the fishing. Kakagi (Crow) Lake is running about 70 degrees... good for swimming, tubing and putting the big fish down deep.

You'll want to check out some of the pictures on our Facebook page.

Muskie fishing included a 47" caught trolling this past week... but that wasn't the big fish story of the week.

Bass action included several smaller fish and some 2-3 pound smallies from Kakagi, Jessie and South Narrows.

Northern Pike action included good numbers of Northern Pike caught on Lake of the Woods and Cedartree along with a few on Kakagi with best being a 38" from Whitefish bay area of LOTW.

Walleye fishing on Cedartree was painful at times as guests had to work hard to find those small enough to keep at times. 31" Walleye was best for the week.

Lake Trout bite turned HOT late last week with 3 boats reporting in with 12 Lake Trout in 4.5 hours or less of fishing. Best Lake Trout were a few caught between 11 and 13 pounds this past week.

Perch bite from the dock was reasonable, but some of the more experienced dock fishing you people will be in over the next 4 weeks. I expect the dock action to be improving as the fish start getting used to coming in to the docks for worms, minnows, leeches and occasionally a kernal of corn.

It was a pretty good week of fishing before ever adding the BIG fish story...

One of our groups who has been coming here for 40+ years was able to encounter something amazing. An 8 pound Lake Trout was being brought in during the HOT Lake Trout bite this past week and something BIG followed up after it. The HUGE fish coming after the 8 pound Lake Trout was reportedly a much bigger Lake Trout... bigger then the Lake Trout from last year that hangs on our wall. They don't have a picture, but they said the fish stuck around a while, they pondered trying to net it (but didn't attempt) and they tried tossing lures out to see if they could convince the HUGE fish to bite... and that didn't work either.

Most weeks that would have been our big fish story.... but not this week!

Guess you will need to check our Facebook page and inquiry about what I think we would call a 68"!

Cheers,
