Walleye fishing remains superb with action occuring in a variety of depths with mid-basin structures and submerged points excellent. Jigs and bottom bouncing combinations are taking the majority of the fish although fish are beginning to show on windblown reefs and shorelines for those willing to present crankbaits. Depths have ranged from 18 to 30 feet and yet one exception remains - a shallow bite at times on weedlines and treefalls that is enhanced by wind.

Smallmouth fishing continues to improve after several slow days with jigs and plastics and live bait combinations working. This species also tends to react favorably to winds blowing into shoreline boulders and points.

Northern pike are active and the numbers of fish in the protected slot are strong indications to the health of the fishery. Inline spinners, spinnerbaits and crankbaits are working on boulder shoreline as well as deep weedlines.

Muskies are getting more active as water readings are staying in the 70 degree range and are being seen on classic summer structures. Bucktails (standard sizes as well as Cowgirl sizes) and crankbaits are getting attention.
Keith and Tonya Fehr boated a heavy 46 1/2 incher that initially missed a crankbait and was taken an hour later on a Buchertail.
