Fishing remains solid out of Waukegan as we enter early June. Good racks of Coho Salmon and Chinook Salmon with some really big Kings mixed in there from 12-18lbs have been common. Rainbow Trout (Steelhead) and Lake Trout have been making appearances as well with several of each caught nearly every time out. The Rainbows we have been hooking up with have of course put on their signature, acrobatic displays above the water too making the fight that much more fun!

The past two weeks or so is a great example of what makes the Port of Waukegan one of the THE best places to fish out of anywhere on the lake. And the reason is that we get the both the huge catches of Coho in April, May and into June, and we are also catching healthy numbers big Kings (Chinook Salmon) as well as the variety of three Trout species (Lake, Rainbow, and Brown). As Spring turns to Summer our catches of Coho Salmon should remain good with them growing ever larger and we will continue to catch more and more Chinook Salmon with the balance eventually switching over in favor of mostly Chinook by the summer.

More photos from the end of May and first few days of June can be found in the Photo Gallery (tab) under 2010 Fishing Season.

Feel free to give me a call or email me to find out the latest on how the fishing is and/or for availability.

Thanks,
Capt Rick
