Lake Mendota Smallmouth Bass have been fairly active in 12-15' of water off shoreline points like Maple Bluff, Tenney Park, Edgewater motel, Picnic Point and Second Point. They don't seem to be congregated in any large numbers on the bars yet. Catfish appear to be spawning in Northshore Bay, and the action has been good recently! Bluegill fishermen have been having scattered success usually in the evenings. The Crappies seem to be scattered on the deeper weedlines in areas like Bishops Bay, between Second Point and Picnic Point, and along parts of the Univ. shoreline. Lake Monona Bluegills continue to be active in shallow water from 1-5'. Areas to look are Hudson Park, Schlueter Beach, Wyldehaven, Turville Point and Turville Bay. Muskies have been more active lately on Lake Monona and Lake Waubesa. On Lake Waubesa, the Bluegills seem to be transitioning from shallow spawning waters to the weeds and weedlines. Try throwing bobbers tipped with worms or plastics with spikes. There have been some Perch in the shallow water around the Bluegills beds lately, but not in big numbers. Crystal Lake is still having action on Bluegills and some Crappies. Cherokee Marsh has been producing a few nice Bluegills and Catfish.
