I remember 2 years ago, we tried to find an island for the wally opener. Tried Pine, some Bananas & about a total of 7 or 8 sites, all of them taken. My nephew tells us that the one by the campgrounds was open, Darrow I think? Just gave all our gear a boat ride for about 45 minutes and got a site at the campground. A good option if the islands are taken.

I don't think the island sites get a lot of play during the week, and on a Sunday following Memorial day weekend I'd guess your odds of finding an open island site to be very good.
