Just returned from the annual Smalliethon, and like clockwork, the peak occurred from the 17-20th, progressing from the warmer Bonies Mound, Horseshoe and 4th of July Slough areas toward cooler water in Baraboo and the big water. Early Thursday morning provided the best action I've ever had - starting just east of Merkle in front of the cottages and working my way down the east shore of Big Island, I caught and released about 40 in just under 3 hours of fishing - one particular sand point covered with stumps gave up almost 20 fish.

Got to hang out with Ski2313 and his fishing buddy for half the week, and met a couple other new people from the board. The week also produced about 1500 photos, and I'll start posting the best ones later today but it's going to take a while to weed through them all. I also got a great start on my new top-secret project, which I think people will really enjoy - I should be unveiling it within the next couple weeks.

Truth is, this is my 9th season with the Ranger and it's actually never been on the Turtle side other than in the area near the dam. Still haven't run out of new spots to try that are closer to the dock.
