Hello Everyone, this is Cathy from Aquatic Arts Fishing Pro Shop right here in Tomahawk. The weather has certainly been a bit daunting lately, but that hasn't stopped the local hard-core fishermen! Successful anglers have been fishing deeper, slower, and tighter to structure. As this cold fromt continues, you can expect this to be the case on all area lakes. Walleyes have still been hanging in deeper structure with 1/8 to 1/4 oz jigs tipped with fatheads proving most productive. Northerns have moved back out of the bays and can be found in 8 to 10ft of water. Use swimbaits with weighted hooks & be sure to retrieve slowly as the Northerns are not as ferocious as they were last week due to the cooler water.
We found that bluegills have backed out of their spawning grounds into deep water. Little pieces of nightcrawlers beneath a slip bobber have been working great.
You Crappie anglers have a tough week ahead of you for sure!! Vertical jigging is the best approach right now. Use 1/32 to 1/16oz igs tipped with a white finesse tail.
For a change of pace, try some Trout fishing as it has been excellent with this cool damp weather. All you need are some small spinners like Mepps ultra-lites or Panther Martins. There are plenty of great streams in the area so give it a try!! It's a Blast!! Well, thats all for today.. This has been your weekly fishing update from Catch em Cathy.
