Hello All you water temp followers. I was quite surprised to find the water temp info thread the most read from the first year on the board. I suggest changing your display mode on the board to "linear mode" so that you can read the new posts in sequence despite which "reply to" button may have been selected when adding new info.
The first reading reported for our area for this year is 50 degrees as of the weekend of May 1, 2.
We'll try to keep it updated every so often as we did last year.
Water is still quite low, but we've had some rains in the last few days that should start to bring things up a little.

Still in the 49-50 degree range out on the lake. It was a very chilly week so it would have gone down some and then come back up a bit the last couple of days.
Supoposed to be warmer this week so expect it will be climbing a little bit at a time in the immediate future.

49.1 this morning before the sun came out.

Althought the first time I heard someone say it, I didn't believe it...it came from 3 different boats and temp sensors that the temps were over 65 degrees in some areas on Monday, May 17th.
Others seen it steady at 54 degrees.
Things are heating up; literally and figuratively.

More than one boat seeing surface temps over 70 degrees up to 72 degrees in the heat of the afternoon.
It's hard to believe, but that sun is definitely HOT!

Had some people up in Miles Bay fishing walleyes that last couple days that reported 62-65 degrees.
Have some sun again today and the next few days so it should climb a bit in the daytime warmth.

Went out for a boat ride yesterday and found 64-65 degrees at most in the area at the end of Sunset.
There is some sun in the forecast so hopefully things will stabilize this week.

Hey Justin, I am coming up on friday for Musky opener. Looking forward to it! Hopefully the sun will warm up my favorite shallow bays! Any decent weed growth yet!
I'll make sure to bring you the "Secret lure."
The action has been up and down in MN so far. We have managed to boat some hawgs though!
See you soon! Jerry

Hey Jerry,
I was going to email you and ask if you were going to make it for opener. I guess I'll have to wait in line on Sunday for a shot at some of those shallow bays if I get out fishing!
A couple boats saw 70 in some shallow bays yesterday so one day of hot sun made a big difference.
I tried to order a couple of back-ups for the secret lure when I ordered some others for the store here, but the manufacturer said "no-can-do"...that it was a special custom pattern for someone very important! Kind of reminds me of the story you told me about the "Burnsie" pattern Rad Dog.
I will certainly appreciate a spare for the secret lure you already gave me..you'll just have to name the price, eh!
Looking forward to seeing you and checking out the new ranger and custom casting deck Bob at Just Encase made for you.
Travel safe.

talked to a couple anglers at the dock this morning that have been buzzing around the lake the last few days. seeing 66 around the rocks and 68+ in the weedy bays.
Not much sun around this week, but the air is thick and it feels hot out there with the humidity.

Intense heat from the sun and humidty the last several days has brought most temps up into the 72 degree range. Saw some 75 degrees myself in shallow bays and even shallow rocks.
This is something we didn't see until August or so last summer, and even then it didn't last long.

73 degrees at the dock last night at 8pm. Water temps are heating up.
Please be extra careful handling all those big fish. Reduce out of the water time as much as possible if planning to release fish. You cannot expect a fish to survive in a small, tepid water filled livewell for very long and should never be used when dealing with muskies and larger northerns.
Working on those nice muskies and northerns while the fish is in the water (net, cradle, etc) should be part of your regular catch and release routine. A large net really helps relax a fish and let them recover before & after unhooking.

Temps were seen at 68-69 on Thursday before the cold overnight temps in the low 40s and high winds from the north all day Friday.
Fridays water temps dropped to 66 or so.
Sunny in the forecast, but no highs more than low 60s the next few days as far as air temps are concerned.

A guest reported 62-64 in the areas they were walleye fishing on Thurs, Sept 9.
Had a light frost the morning of Sept 9.
Chilly and strong SE winds today wont do anything to hold temps so should be coming down a bit more.

Saw it at 58 at the dock the morning of 9/13. Some guests trolling in Sabaskong did not find any water that was 60 degrees, but they didnt trolling into any shallow bays.
Its coming down.

Still 57/58 most areas of the main lake. lower than normal temps in the forecast with some overnight lows in the high 30's coming..should keep coming down steadily, if not quickly.

Reading 54.5 at the dock this morning after a chilly night. Saw it from sub 55 to near 60 in deeper water areas on the lake today.
It looked like some turnover starting..algae was up in chunks a lot of places. Wind was calm so it was allowing it to settle.

Was seen at 52-54 on main lake basins on Wednesday 9/22 and that was on a nicer day before two days of very chilly winds and rain on thurs/fri morning, 9/22 and 9-23.
Turnover should be complete. Fishing should be great this fall!!

Had someone report seeing mostly 54-56 degrees out on the lake Tuesday, Sept 28. Nights have not been as cold lately so water temps are holding their own.

Saturday (Oct 9) - 54ish in the morning in Sabaskong, got up to 58 late in the afternoon after a hot, sunny day.
Sunday (Oct 10) - 56ish in the morning and saw it up to 63-64 degrees in the late afternoon after another hot, sunny day.
These temps were taken during trolling runs and did not include much time spent in shallow bays. A lot of the time we spend close to deeper water 20 feet plus.
