By now, most everyone should have received their Ontario Outdoors Card if you purchased a fishing license in Ontario during the 2009 season.

Please located and put your card somewhere that will ensure it will make the trip to Ontario with you. You cannot purchase a fishing tag without an outdoors card so if you don't have your card, you will have to apply for another one at the same cost of $9 extra. Cards purchased in 2009, will be good through the 2010 and 2011 seasons so don't lose them! You will be asked to present your outdoors card when you buy a license this year so we can fill out the fishing tag and record the appropriate info needed from the card for the license tag you wish to purchase.

Anyone who didn't purchase a fishing license in Ontario in 2009 will have to do the card application when buying a license this year at the same cost of $9 that was the case last year. This applies to Canadian residents and Ontario residents as well. In fact, the outdoor card requirement for Canadian/Ontario residents has been in place for many, many years.

If you have not received your card yet depsite having purchased a license last year in Ontario, you should call the MNR to find out the status of your card application.

The contact phone number is 1-800-387-7011.

Our early group arrived and a couple of anglers already forgot their cards. 9 bucks is 9 bucks so don't give the MNR any more than you have to.

Find those cards or get on the phone to get replacements if you have time.

Save the 9 bucks for minnows, a lure or your favourite pudgy dock boy!

If you don't have your card yet, you need to call the toll free number and have one sent out to you. This process takes 20 days so you need to be pro-active or you will end up paying the $9 again.

The wonderfully helpful lady at the outdoor card centre informed me that the temp paper card expires Dec 31 each year so cannot be used as proof of purchase of a card the following year.

She informed me of this fact 4 separate times to different scenarios I asked about...don't you love it when people say the same thing over and over like you are too dumb to have understood it the first 2-3 times they said it to you!

Have your cards when you arrive or you'll have to pay the card fee again.

Don't give them any extra money!!

FIND THOSE CARDS OR GET ON THE PHONE AND HAVE ANOTHER ONE SENT WELL IN ADVANCE OF YOUR TRIP!!!!

Just a reminder to anyone coming up for the first time in the fall....track down your outdoors cards and call the number in the thread if you can't find them or didn't get one..you may be able to get one in time to avoid buying another.
