Sturgeon keep season has arrived and runs through May 7th. Anglers can keep one fish between 45 and 50 inches or one over 75 inches. All you need is a Minnesota fishing license to fish for them, but the additional purchase of a $5 Lake Sturgeon tag will allow you to keep one fish.
We’ve seen a lot of good action in the last week with ten to twenty fish per boat per day being caught and released. Now that it is keep season the landings are full of boats! The beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing only helps create the perfect fishing adventures!
The best locations as of now for sturgeon fishing are the Rainy River, Four Mile Bay and The Lighthouse Gap. The best depths have been between twelve to twenty feel in depth.
Pack your tackle box with 50lb test line, 3oz sinkers, a circle hook, and some crawlers for bait!
