After much trial and error, I found a neat way to clean plug-in connectors. It works especially well on trailers. Get a nylon bristle, .22 caliber gun bore brush (the kind that screws into a cleaning rod). Chuck it up in a cordless drill and run it into the female receiver end of the plug. On the male end, run it between and around the pins. I buy the small terminal cleaner and protector chemical spray cans at auto supply places or Menards. Clean first, then apply protectant. Just takes a few minutes and lasts all season!
