Fished 8 hours on Sunday, 4/18 on Lake Wausau for crappie primarily. Tried the shallower areas but couldn't find any fish. Moved to the steep drop offs (20 or more feet) and found a few fish suspended and towards the bottom. A few Crappie and a Bluegill were caught on live minnows, and several others on an 1/8 oz jig tipped with a small Gulp minnow. Fishing is still a bit slow, but should pick up soon since the water was above 60 degrees that afternoon and the crappie spawn should soon kick in.

Good luck.

Thanks for the report. I fished Sunday and found the same thing. The water in some spots was pushing 61 degrees but I think with the super high pressure that moved through on Friday, the fish were suspended deeper. We also found our fish out deeper using minnows and slip bobbers. Stable weather this week will certainly help move the crappies shallow. Take a kid fishing

See you on the water
