Wolf River Report
The spring run is on for the walleye migration to the marshes in Shiocton. If you are looking for fun the mouth of Poygan is producing a lot of small fish. This is fun for the families. If you are looking for size we are fishing in 6 to 8 feet of water. Fish will be moving up the river on the slack side of the river right now. Stay out of the deep holes. Right now we are using wolf river rigs anchoring up. When you anchor up and use the rig make sure you are on bottom. The trick to fishing the rig is jigging the rig and keeping contact to the bottom. We are tipping the rig with a minnow right now. The water temp needs to be in the mid 50 before we switch to nightcrawlers.
If you like to use jigs we are using 3/8 oz jig to stay on bottom with the current being as strong as it is. If you are jigging make sure you are vertical with good contact with the bottom. The colors working good right now green and orange the water is dirty and the water temp is low 40s.
Perch and Crappie
Don’t forget about the great crappie and perch fishing on the river system. We are finding some nice fish in the bays right now. Give it a try this year. We have more this time of year to offer. To catch the crappie, get yourself a small cane pole and a hook. Tip the hook with a small crappie minnow. You will be finding the fish in trees in the bays.
