Ice Conditions on 3-15-2010

Hey Everyone!! We still have 30 inches of ice on Lake of the Woods and Crow Lake. There is no standing water, no slush, no snow. I would suggest driving your pickup or a 4-wheeler.The ice road, the launch at Gordy's is closed, you can still get on the lake at Willard's Corner on Sabaskong Bay. The portages to get to the back lakes are poor, with no or little snow. We will still have good ice for a few more weeks.

From here on out no more trucks on the ice. We have over 18 inches of ice but are developing some soft spots out there. I recommend 4 wheelers. The weather network is calling for some really cold nights to keep everything froze for another week. I would also suggest some ice cleats as the soft surface is freezing at night and becoming very slick!! Be safe and please enjoy the great late ice fishing!!!
