As of this morning, Lake Mendota has been reported to be covered with ice 3/4 of the way. With the cold weather ahead, we are hoping for safe ice soon!! Warner Bay on Lake Mendota still continues to produce some action on Northern Pike, with an occassional Walleye. There were reports of people fishing for Northerns off of the Univ. shoreline today. No ice thickness reports, or success reports. Cherokee Marsh continues to be spotty, with some nice catches of Crappies and Bluegills once in awhile. Lake Monona appeared to be mostly covered with ice today, but most of the action continues to be in Monona Bay and the Triangles. Bluegills are in the 6 1/2 - 7 1/2" range. We are still getting reports of an occassional Northern being caught in the Triangles and also in Squaw Bay. Mud Lake has been producing a few nice Bluegills and once in awhile a Bass or Northern. Lake Waubesa bite continues to be spotty, but some action on Bluegills has been reported off of Christies and Goodland Park, and a few small Perch have been caught off of the Bible Camp. Lake Kegonsa Perch fishermen have been reporting some success, but the fish have been very finicky. The guys that are producing the nicest catches have been using their cameras. We have heard of reports of Bluegills and a few Bass being caught on Crystal Lake. Lake WI has been slow. Beaver Dam has been producing a few small Walleyes and once in awhile a nice Crappie. Fox Lake reports have been spotty also. Lake Koshkonong has had some good action on Walleyes, with fish being reported up to 8lbs. But of course, most of them are smaller than that!
