Ice conditions continue to improve on the Madison Chain. Cherokee Marsh has 6-8" of ice, with spotty fishing. There has been some action on Crappies and Bluegills, with good numbers being caught occasionally. Lake Mendota has ice coverage in the bays. Warner Bay has been producing some Northern Pike up to 38". Northshore Bay has had similar reports. University Bay has been giving up some Bluegills. Ice reports in the bays are up to 5", with the middle of the lake still open. Monona Bay on Lake Monona has 5-8" of ice, and Bluegills, some Crappies, and some Whitebass are being caught. As usual, sorting is required, but many Bluegills are being caught in the 7-8" range. The Triangle has not only been producing good action on Bluegills, but quite a few Northern Pike have been caught recently. Some reports of Bluegill and Pike action have been coming out of Squaw Bay. Mud Lake has some ice coverage, but no reports of ice or fish. We have learned that the parking by the tank farms off of Terminal Dr. is posted no parking. Lake Waubesa has ice over it. We have not heard of anyone all the way out to the middle yet. Some areas they are fishing are Lake Farm Park, the Green Lantern, Goodland Park, off of Tower Rd., and down by the marsh on the south end. Ice reports in these areas is 5-8". Some Bluegill action has been reported by Goodland and a few over by Tower Rd. We have heard there is 6-7" on Kegonsa, with slow reports on Perch. Crystal Lake by Lodi has 5-8" of ice, reports on Bass and Bluegills has been spotty. The Grade reports are also slow. Lake Koshkonong has been producing some Walleyes.
