Here is what's happening in Eagle River and the surrounding Vilas and Oneida Counties.
With muskie season closing on November 30, and virtually no ice in the area, fishing has come to a stand still. There are no boats on the lakes and for the most part the lakes are still open. Only a few small lakes with shallow depths (those 12 feet and less) have got ice on them and are very unsafe for foot travel. As of this report, Lac Vieux Desert is still wide open with the bays unfrozen. Lac Vieux is usually one of the first to close up.
Walleyes are still biting 12 to 30 feet with a jig and a XL fathead minnow.
The wind is tough on most days and keeping the lakes open at night. This weekend we are to get extreme cold for 4 nights in a row, temperatures down to 12 degrees with highs in the 20's. This should close up some of the lakes by next weekend. Everyone is waiting for "first ice" and the good bite that usually comes with it.

Stay tuned for the latest fishing reports here on this site. I'm glad to report after having been hit by lightning we now have our telephone fishing report line back to work. Simply dial the Guides Choice Pro Shop's toll free number at
1-866-367-2248 and press #2 on the menu options and weekly up to date fishing information will be at your cell phone. Put the number in your contacts and call from anywhere.

We will post again as soon ice forms on the lakes and ice fishing begins. Hopefully soon.
