Silver carp are considered the bigger threat to the economy, ecology and culture of the Great Lakes because of their penchant for leaping out of the water and injuring boaters.

That's crazy!

In Maryland/Virginia there's the "Snakehead Threat!" Initially, there was this hysteria about these "feeding machines". However, it does not appear to be as bad (so far) as predicted although they seem to breed like crazy. Hopefully, this will not happen with these fish. Sometimes these evasive species become pretty good sportfish themselves.

Man seems to be a bigger threat to our fish (the Potomac has Bass with male/female sex organs) than other predators.

Well, it looks like poison will be used to keep the carp below the protection dam while they do the necessary construction maintenance. The Warren newspaper has been covering this issue the past few days, which surprised me.

From the sounds of it, there is going to be a clash of the titans regarding the ability of transporting cargo (coal, etc..) from the Midwest into the Mississippi River drainage areas and the folks who are trying to protect the fisheries in the Great Lakes region.

I wonder who will win this pee-pee match?
