View Full Version : Great Info Regarding Releasing of Muskies After Capture

I stole this from another site but that is not a felony. :)

This information is VERY important when dealing with a musky that will not swim away after capture. By spending some extra time with the fish and performing the mentioned techniques, maybe we can lessen the delayed mortality of all fish, especially muskies taken from deeper water.

BTW....the big fish that Bortz and I caught last summer would not swim away at first. Jim spent at least 45 minutes with her before she would swim on her own and we continued to watch her (for at least another hour) before she headed back down and out of site. I am pretty certain the fish was full of air and needed more time to "blow her tank" before she could dive.
