Water temperatures continue to be in the low 50's, and water seems to be clearing up, with visibilities up to 8 or 9' in many areas. Lake Mendota Walleye fishermen continue to be having some success both during the day and at night. At night look for fish to be active in areas like Tenney Park breakwall, Warner Bay, out by Gov. Island and over by Marshall Park. During the day look for Walleye activity to be in deeper water off of Gov. Island, Fox Bluff, and County Park. Try using jigs or Lindy rigs and fathead minnow or medium shiners. Pike fishermen have been having some success using sucker minnows in the 6-10" size in 10-20' of water in these same areas. Lake Monona Bluegills and some Crappies have been biting in Monona Bay and around Olin Park. Try throwing Rat Finkies tipped with spikes and fished 3' deep under small bobbers. Muskie fishermen have been having some success on Jerkbaits in areas like John Nolen Dr., out from Olin Park, in front of Turville Bay, and Wyldehaven. Water temps. are running around the same as Mendota. Lake Waubesa panfish reports have been slower, but typically this time of the year look for fish in 5-8' of water over whats left of the weeds. Try throwing small jigs tipped with spikes under a bobber. You should expect to make many casts looking for active fish. Musky fishermen have been having some success again using Jerkbaits along with Musky suckers. Try areas like Christies, Hog Island, and Tower Rd. We have been hearing of Walleyes being caught on Lake WI by the railroad tressel.
