Muskie hunters are switching to suckers in the Eagle River area. Use 12-14
inch suckers on quick-strike rigs. Fish 10-20 feet over hardbottom areas
outside of weed edges. For those anglers interested in only the bigger
muskies, use 16-18 inch suckers and fish towards the deeper limits.
Also muskies have been active in very shallow water 3-5 feet in and around
weeds, use spinnerbaits and shallow running crankbaits to catch the eye of these fish.

Walleye have slipped deeper in the Eagle River area. Fish 15-30 feet in mud
bottom areas, with some suspended over mid-lake mud basins, some hanging on
the edge of mid-lake rock bars, and some hanging in the wood in 10-18 feet
of water. Use a three inch sucker minnow or XL fathead.

Northern in the Eagle River area are sitting in and on the edges of any
green weeds in 8-15 feet of water. Use a bait that stops and goes and looks
like a minnow. Spinners, twitchbaits, or minnow baits should all work.

Panfish in the Eagle River area are in depths ranging from 10-20 feet
depending on the lake.
Bluegills are close to weed edges. Perch are 1.5 to 2.5 feet off the
bottom, and crappies are suspending over cribs, or off the bottom in
mid-lake areas. Use a crawler or a Mini-Mite.

Good luck to all

Welcome to the board Mat and thanks for the great report. Look forward to many more. I will be up fishing the chain from the 14th thru the 18th and am hoping the sucker bite is in full swing. Thanks
