Lake Mendota Walleyes have been more active lately. Look for fish in 25-35' of water, using jigs or Lindy rigs tipped with leeches or minnows. Some areas to try are off of Gov. Island, Dunns Bar, Stoney Point, and Commodore. Some Bluegills have been hitting along the weed edge in 12-14' of water between the 4 doors and Fox Bluff. Whitebass have been active in the evenings on the west side of the lake out from Marshall Park. Lake Monona Muskies have been more active lately. Look for fish in 5-15' of water in areas like Olbrich Park, Schlueter Beach, out from the rock pile in Squaw Bay, and also in front of Olin Park. Try throwing Bucktails, Big Joes, or Suicks. Bluegills continue to be active out from Olbrich Park in 15-30' of water. Look for the fish to be near or on the bottom. Some other areas to try would be Hudson Park, or the rock pile in front of Squaw Bay. Try using Willy Worms or Nail Tails tipped with spikes or waxworms. Shore fishermen have been having some success on Bluegills in the north triangle and also off of the wall at the convention center. Lake Waubesa Bluegills, Crappies and some Perch have been biting in 14-20' of water south of Hog Island, or out from Christies. You can also try fishing between the Green Lantern and the Beach House restaurant in the same water depths. There has been some Walleye action reported during the day in 20 plus feet of water out from Christies, and some late evening action along the weedline. Lake Kegonsa has been giving up some nice Bluegills and Perch, although the action has been spotty.
