Things are lookin up! A week of improving weather conditions and an improving long range weather forcast has got me excited about summertime fishing. Forcasted temps in the mid 80+ and prevailing south and west winds should clean up up the water clarity and raise water temps to where they traditionally are for this time of year. All of this spells active fish that have to feed more often because of the smb's increased metobilism.
Lake Conditions: Water temps 70-72 degrees and going up, water clarity: less than 2 feet but clearing, Algea bloom: very prevalent on eastern side of lake. Cleanest water is on the west and north side. Bug hatch: minor hatch occuring.
Last weeks bite was still somewhat slow but showed signs of getting better. Most of our fish were taken on soft plastics ie tubes, grubs and stick baits fished either wacky or texas rigged. Not much topwater action, but I expect the fish to start eating baits fished on top.
