Marie and I fished several hours on the holiday, mostly during the late morning and into the early afternoon. We trolled hard baits for walleye, but I wanted to build up my supply of white bass for an intended fish fry. We had one shortie and 19 stripers. A few were professionally released. Fire tiger colors were working best. Marie was nailing them 5 to 1 against me. She was using a short (~4 inch) shallow running Rapala stick bait in the fire tiger colors. All our other rods did not produce as well.

On Sunday, we tried the rocks along the east side by the dam. Slow electric troll just fast enough to overcome the wind and boat waves. We didn't have live bait which I wanted, so we tried gulp minnows and leeches. The gulp leeches got several hits, but we didn't have any hookups. Zero for the day.

All was not lost. We got to even out our tans a little. Both on the boat and then on the beach with some nice bottle bass.

Enjoy.
