Lake Mendota small mouth bass action has continued to be good. Try fishing the Bars and Points in 14' to 20' of water. Try using leeches or plastics such as the Chomper Spider grubs. White bass have been biting off Governor's Island, Maple Bluff and in Warner Bay. Try trolling any number of lures including Shad Raps, Rattle Traps, or Blade baits like the Zip or Big Dude. Don't be afraid to troll as fast as three miles per hour. Blue gill reports on Lake Mendota have been sporadic at best. Look for blue gills to be active in 5'-12' of water. Some crappies have still been biting on the weed edges using minnows. Perch action has been slow yet.
Lake Monona blue gills that have finished spawning and even some that have yet to spawn have moved out in large numbers to 15'-30' of water. Try drifting with jigs like Willy Worms or Nail Tails tipped with spikes or wax worms. Set your lines 10' to 15' below the boat. Some good areas to try include out from Olbrich Park, Slueter Beach, Wyldehaven or in front of Squaw Bay. Also, feel free to try any area along the north shore, from the Yarhara River to Law Park. Some reports of perch continue to come in with most activity being along the weed edge. Musky action has been fair, while the bass have been biting on the deeper weed edges.
Lake Waubesa blue gill action continues to be good, with fish being caught anywhere from 2' to 20' of water. This time of the year is very productive drifting in 12' to 20' of water on the north end of the lake. The same methods and tackle that has been successful on Monona have yielded results on Waubesa as well.
Lake Kegonsa has seen some perch action around the Cribs along with some large blue gills along the weed lines. However, specific locations have been hard to come by.
