I knew it would be a good day when a friend and I saw four bears while driving to the upper Escanaba River to fish trout on this day. A sow black bear crossed a powerline cut followed by three cubs. What a sight! I have seen twin cubs near here in the past, but triplets was a record for me. As for the trout, we were casting spinners and landed an even dozen. Six browns and six rainbows. We released all but one fifteen inch rainbow. Of the twelve, probably four were twelve inches or more. The rest were short. A great day in the great outdoors.
