My dad, little brother, and myself have focused on nothing but musky fishing for years now, with little to show for it. We have yet to boat a musky of any size and it's wearing kind of thin. I know how difficult it is to boat the fish, if it was easy everyone would do it. We also enjoy a day on the lake even with just a follow or two to describe to my mom when we get home. That said, it would be great to actually hook one.
We have a place on Big Saint, but also fish the Arbor Vitae, Little Saint, Ballard, and Big lakes frequently. I know musky fishing has been a little slow this year, but we're not looking for trophy fish here, just some action. We study weather, try to select the right lure for each situation, and we're out of ideas, so I figured the more intelligent and experienced musky community may have some advice. Thanks guys! |

Best advise I can give. Hire a guide. They will show you things it would take you years to learn on your own.

Patrick,
re: "Hire a guide" You might want to consider the editor of this particular site ! Rob Manthei , Ken Jackson... Check at Rollie and Helens and Kurts Island Sports There are a lot of very good guides out there who would be able to teach you more than you can possibly learn in one trip. If you do hire a guide don't be afraid to ask questions. A good guide will try to answer any question you might have no matter how stupid you might think it is. You might be surprised by what good people they are along with being good muskie guides. Good luck and hang in there! If muskie fishing were easy everyone would be doing it ! |
