Water temps where near 60 or so by yesterday afternoon. They where cooler last week, but it was warm yesterday and today.

Been trolling some and getting a few (eight so far), but spent eight hours at it yesterday with a couple of pike to show for it.

Thinking or driving up Wed for a few days casting for muskies. How is the bloom and how do you think this warm weather will affect things? Thanks.

Been tough for me. I don't like warm weather in the fall. Quite a bit of algae has developed in the last couple of weeks. On a calm day it's pretty wide spread, but not as bad as I've seen.

It's supposed to cool off next week and maybe even be a little below normal the week of October 17 - highs of 50 and lows of 30 or so. How long does the temperature need to be at these levels with below freezing at night for the bloom to die off and the trolling bite to pick up? With the temperatures in the 70's this week, are you trolling or casting?

    Thanks

Tried a bit of trolling this week without much success. Cast some today, and got a 49" on a Cowgirl. Saw a few others twitching a Jake, but windows very short. Bloom was horrendous yesterday in the calm. But gone today with the wind. Water was very clean today.

Probably need a 5 degree or so drop to get the fish going. Could happen in a few days with a temperature drop and wind.

At the request of a certain Nebraska Girl, here's a picture of the Cowgirl fish. Pretty nice photo for a cell phone camera. Bob's batteries died in his camera.

Water was 50 F today with exception of 51 at French Portage. Wind still blew hard from the northwest, which is no surprise; this is Northern Ontario in the fall. Mr. Johnson guided us to 3 muskies and one jack. The first muskie was the biggest at 48 inches and very fat. She came right out of the water in her first mad dash. Doug had one other strike that made a huge first run, then came off after 30 seconds. He shook his head for a couple of hours after that....likely a very big fish.
