Default october at kinzua, chaut. or clarion res.

A week from today I have 6 days off in a row from work. Only dilema is where to go. I never fished kinzua in the fall. Fished it a lot in the spring and summer with nothing to show. When do they start drawing it down for winter?
Anyone know the water temp? Is wolf marina launch still open now?

Maybe chautauqua for 3 days. or clarion res./east branch. If I could stick to those 3 places I could stay at my dad's camp and maybe get a morning or 2 of archery hunting in as well.

Never fished clarion res. so would need ANY info about that place.

Here is how I narrowed it down-
Chautauqua- more fish with possible mid 40 inchers.
Kinzua- More than likely NOTHING, Though a 40-50 pounder could happen
    Clarion res.- Have no idea

Thanks if anyone wants to leave feedback.

I am not sure what the surface temps are on Kinzua cuz I threw away my newspaper yesterday. You can call 814-726-0164 to get the temp. U pegged Kinzua and Chautauqua regarding the type of action you can expect and East Branch Dam has been stingy according to a guy on this board.

Kinzua started the draw down several weeks ago and I think the pool is 14 or so feet below the summer norm.

Kinzua outflow temps are 58-59 from the bottom gates as of yesterday.
The surface temps are probably still somewhere in the low to mid-60's..........just and educated guess.

Got a report that East Branch is drawn down below the launch and closed to tailered boats.
I'd call there before you travel and find out for yourself.

As far as Kinzua or Chaut. I guess it's all in what your chasing.
Lot more 50+ at Chaut. than I ever remember being caught this year.
    Not 40+ pounders though.

Let me know your days off.....I could us another vaca day.....

Is the wolf's marina open to launch? It would be easier for me to launch from elijah.

Chautauqua is out. Talked to a good friend that says to go archery hunting instead of chaut. As long as I can launch- I will drag my plows and perchbaits around kinzua for a few days. I have days off and it seems like more work THAN work.

A friend and I were on chautaqua 2 weeks ago in miserable post frontal conditions with east winds. We had lots of action (about 1 fish per hour followed) the only reason we didn't put any in the net was due to our own stupid mental mistakes. Imo, I wouldn't rule chautaqua out.

From what I am hearing, Chautauqua is in the middle of turnover.
