    Question question about tactics for august

    I was little confuse about tactics for august smallmouth bass fishing in wausau area, as here august what pattren will smallmoutb bass hold at location in deep or shallow or snaggy area by fern island on river edge parkway,
    was thinking of use texas rig with crawdad color beaver tail from strike king and other crankbait
    any recommend to trying for august smallmouth bass fishing


    otherthings i wonder how big lures smallmouth would attack ?? well i was thinking of use 1/2 oz buzzbait but might need to downsize to 3/8 oz i'm not sure.
    been search for better advice for smallmouth bass,

    Josh,

    Look for current breaks, whether created by shoreline irregularities, rocks, sand, or wood - these areas will hold the most smallmouth bass. Both crankbaits and plastics are fine options in August - I do well on Rattl'n Raps, twitching Floating Rapala's, and also swimming a 3" or 4" orange, yellow, or chartreuse Mister Twister grub on a jighead. As for the buzzbaits, I would probably start with the 3/8 oz. model.
