I agree, fishing pretty well sucks. Been out twice in last five days, CR & esc, with not much to show for it. Going to try again tonight. I am a glutten for punishment.

other presentations declined of 8 lines out were: 2 braided dipseys, one with white e-chip and green fly, one with spin doctor mtn. dew and green fly, full core w/ monkey puke, two riggers w/stacked lines, swr's and non-swr's, w/flounder, rickety, crabface, and macmuffin...so pretty good spread up and down west bank...

The walleye fishing hasn’t been any better than the salmon, at least not for a novice like myself. I went out of the Ford yesterday and fished for about 4 hours. All I caught was one 26 inch walleye right after it got dark.

I don’t understand why the fishing is so bad for me right now. The water temp is 71 degrees and the south winds and rain lately have the water near shore pretty dirty. It should be perfect. The only thing I notice is that I am marking huge schools of bait, and snagging a lot of alewives on my thundersticks after dark. Maybe the walleyes are too fat and happy to eat? I don’t know.

    Default Windy Weekend

I would think the reports will be better this weekend with some better weather. Wanted to make it out last weekend but the weather kept most people off the water. We got out Monday after the morning rain. Started to fish at about 9am and fished till about 11 am. Ended up with 2 hits and scored on both. The biggest fish was 18 pounds. One came on lead core and the other came off braided dispy flasher and fly combo. The fish we marked were in 65 feet of water about 50 feet down. Another boat fishing next to us started fishing at 4 am and had his limit of 5 by 10 am. Never marked bait fish but were were marking a few fish so we stuck it out in the area before the afternoon rain came. Launched out of Cedar River.

    Default Slow at Fairport

Fishing has been slow all week at Fairport, and from what I have heard, Manistique also. Marked lots of fish, caught a few in deep water (140-160) but everyone agrees, fish are just not active during what we consider the prime times, dawn and dusk!

Went to Fairport Mon evening and Tues morning. 3 small fish Mon and a 15 lb at 10:30 Tues morning. Not a single hit during "prime time" and only 2 shakers the whole trip.
